Joshua

Dear To whom it may concern.

I am a Undergraduate enrolled in ABET-accredited BSME program graduating in 12/15. Seeking an engineering management position or senior position in R&D, product development or testing at an innovative and fast paced company. Giving me a chance to showcase my mechanical engineering abilities, and my strong work ethic, that I have developed in my pursuit of my degree.

Enclosed is my resume, where you will see that I will be graduating in December with a mechanical engineering degree from Montana State University with an aerospace minor. Please note that much of my coursework focused on the mechanics of materials, with a focus on material engineering. This has given me a deep understanding of how material properties affect how a material will behave.

MSU’s engineering program also has provided me with extensive experience in other areas:
Thorough CAD modeling courses in Solidworks,AutoCAD, ProE, and Creo plus analysis experience using Solidworks, Creo, Mathcad, X-foil and Excel.
Problem-solving skills from design-focused courses in mathematics and engineering. Design problems considered the effects of external conditions on mechanical parts in different environments and how environmental changes affected material properties. Furthermore solutions to these design problems required the development of theoretical design drawings with drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on experience with various rapid prototyping machines such as 3D printers and other forms of machine processes, both automated and manual.

In addition to my schooling, I have worked two years as a machinist for Spark R&D, which, gave me a solid understanding of manufacturing processes for machining billets of aluminum into snowboard binding components. I also have design-team experience from having participated in an SAE Aero Design competition, where I strongly cultivated the communication skills necessary to prevent errors in manufacturing. For the competition the challenge was to design and build the lightest possible aircraft that can lift the most possible weight, without using any composites, driven only by a 1000 Watt electrical power source. Resulting in a design that required large amounts of research into light weight materials, aircraft structures, and brush less electrical motors powered by a lipo battery.

The chance to work in the field of engineering has me overwhelmed with excitement and inspiration. I’d greatly appreciate your consideration. I will call you soon in case you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Josh
